Youth Opportunities

Beth David Synagogue is fully committed to complementing the Jewish education and experiences of every child in the congregation.  The community's exciting opportunities are described below.  To download our registration form, please click here.

Regular Shabbat and Yom Tov morning programming.  Programming operates concurrently with prayer services in the sanctuary.  Children are always welcome in the sanctuary under supervision, but our hope is that children will spend time in our innovative programs with our professional educators.

Tot Shabbat serves children up to 5 years old and celebrates the Shabbat and holiday experience through age-appropriate songs, prayers and stories.

Parsha and Prayer Club serves children ages 6 and up and teaches the weekly torah portion and prayers through lively discussion and fun, interactive activities.

Monthly Middot Mornings. Beth David invites your teen or pre-teen to delve into a lively, meaningful curriculum, based on Mishna principles of character, reflection and growth, also with hands-on activities.  Participants should be able to read and write independently and participate in discussions with some depth. See schedule here.

Monthly All-Ages Community Events.  Members of all ages are welcome to celebrate their inner child alongside Beth David youth at events throughout the year, with a focus on chesed and holidays.  Events will be announced as they are planned.  Past events include hamantaschen-baking and delivery, ice-skating and menorah-making.

Ivrit.  “Ivrit” is the Hebrew word for the standard form of Hebrew language spoken today.  Following a successful pilot, Beth David will offer weekly classes for school-age children to learn beginner-level, written and spoken Modern Hebrew.

B’nai Mitzvah education.  All children can prepare for B’nai Mitzvot under the guidance of Rabbi Adler and/or other trained tutors who help develop lifetime Jewish skills.
