Beth David Sisterhood

The crown jewel of Beth David Synagogue's volunteer organizations is its Sisterhood. The Sisterhood is comprised of women of all ages -- single women, newly weds, mothers, housewives, grandmothers and senior citizens. Some Sisterhood members even come from outside of the congregation.

The Sisterhood of Beth David Synagogue is nationally affiliated with the Women's Branch of the Orthodox Union (UOJCA). As such, it is a part of a national network of sisterhoods that work for the betterment of Jewish communities around the world. Though most Sisterhood events serve to bring the women of the local community together. The underlying principle is to unite Jewish women and Jewish communities around the world in the combined spirits of tradition, mutual helpfulness and concern, tzedakah (charity), ahavat Yisroel (love among Jews) and Zionistic support for the State of Israel.

Jewish tradition teaches that the destiny of Israel is inseparably ties to spiritual gifts that come to our people through the merit of its women - "bizchut nashim tzidkaniyot, geulah baah l'olam." It is the mission of Beth David's Sisterhood to do its part to keep this destiny alive.
